TUITION FAQ

The distribution of tuition bills for the coming year always sparks a lot of questions. We know it can be confusing. Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions:

Q: WHAT IS AN "ACTIVE" PARISH FAMILY?

A: THE PARISH PAYS A PORTION OF THE TUITION BILL FOR EACH ACTIVE PARISH FAMILY WITH CHILDREN ENROLLED IN OUR PARISH SCHOOL.

Active parish families are defined as registered parish families who actively participate in the life of the parish by:

  • regularly attending Mass at St. Timothy Church and

  • being involved in the life of the parish through participation in activities and organizations of both the Parish and the school and

  • making regular, recordable contributions to the weekly offertory collection used to subsidize tuition at St. Timothy School.

Inactive families are defined as those who are not registered members of St. Timothy parish or who do not actively participate in parish life (through regular Mass attendance, parish involvement, and contributions to the weekly offertory collection).

St. Timothy Church uses funds from the weekly offertory collection to subsidize tuition. Active parish families benefit from a tuition subsidy in which the parish pays up to 51% of the actual cost of tuition - between $1,849 and $13,118 - for each active parish family.

Q: DO ACTIVE PARISHIONERS PAY LESS FOR TUITION THAN NON-PARISHIONERS?

A: YES!

Although many parishes in the area no longer subsidize tuition for their parish school, here at St. Timothy we believe it is the mutual responsibility of both parents and the parish to support our school,

The actual cost to the school to educate each child is exactly the same, whether they are active parishioners or not. The parish uses funds from the offertory collection to pay a portion of the bill for the children of active parish families, resulting in a reduced financial burden for the family.

The members of St. Timothy parish have always been generous in their support of our parish school, knowing that they are helping to form the children of the parish in the Catholic faith.

Q: DOES ST. TIMOTHY OFFER ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE ENROLLED CHILDREN?

A: YES!

At St. Timothy, we know both the great value of a Catholic education and the challenge that tuition can sometimes be. In this era of rising costs, our goal is to keep St. Timothy affordable for any family that is committed to a Catholic education for their children. Families with multiple children enrolled in Catholic schools make a significant commitment to Catholic education.

To ease the financial burden of and reward that commitment, the percentage of each active parish family's tuition bill paid by the parish increases with the number of children from that family enrolled at St. Timothy School.
