October 29, 2012

Dear Parents:

We are almost one quarter of the way through the 2012-13 school year, and the weather has taken a turn for the cooler.  The holiday season will be here soon enough, but before we begin to look ahead, let’s first take a look at the upcoming month of November.  (Please note that October 31st is the last day students can wear shorts until April 1st).

.            Halloween parties will be held this Wednesday, October 31st at 1:45 p.m.  The end of the first quarter is the next day, Thursday, November 1st.  Also, please note that we will NOT have school this Friday, November 2nd due to a Staff Development Day.

Picture re-take day will take place on Wednesday, November 7th.  If your child(ren) will have their picture re-taken, please have them dress in regular clothes to school for the picture, but also bring their regular school uniform with them to change into afterward.  The original pictures must be returned on that re-take day as well.

Report cards (Grades K-5) will be sent home with the students on Wednesday, November 7th.   Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 8th from 1:30-7:30 p.m.  (That day is an early dismissal day for the students at 1:00 p.m.)  Parents can sign-up for the conferences outside the church after all Masses on November 3-4th and outside the school office beginning Monday, November 5th through Wednesday, November 7th.  Parents with children in grades K-5 can sign-up for a conference with their child’s teacher, while parents of students in grades 6-8th can sign-up for conferences with no more than two teachers.  If you need to meet with a teacher for a period of time longer than ten minutes, please contact that teacher directly to schedule an appointment.

Please note again that Thursday, November 8th will be an early dismissal day.  Lunch will NOT be served that day so ALL students will need to bring their lunch.  Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.  Students who ride the Columbus buses (in case the bus shows up at regular dismissal time) will be supervised in the cafeteria until 2:30 p.m.  At that time, those buses will take home the students as usual.  I will try to have the buses pick-up the students early, but it all depends on the district’s policy.  Homework club on that day will still run as normal until 4:00 p.m.

We will have dress-down Fridays on November 9th and 30th.

Just a reminder that Thanksgiving break this year begins on Wednesday, November 21st and runs through Sunday, November 25th.

Here is a look at what the month of November brings:

November:       1:         End of first quarter

2:         NO SCHOOL- STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY

                        6:         Election Day

                        7:         School Picture Re-take Day

                        7:         Report cards go home

                        8:         8th Grade visits Bishop Watterson from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

                        8:         Early Dismissal 1:00 p.m.

August 29, 2012

Dear St. Timothy Parents,

On behalf of St. Timothy School’s faculty and staff, we would like to welcome our parents and students back to school.  We hope that everyone had a safe and joyous summer and is ready for a great school year.  While we have no doubt that the 2012-13 School Year will bring growth and achievement for this great school, I just wanted to address some changes that have taken place for this upcoming school year.

I am proud to announce that we have only one new addition to our 2012-13 staff.  Mrs. Teresa Davidson has been added as a Kindergarten Aide.

In the back-to-school packet, you found a technology fee statement.  Six years ago, St. Timothy School and the School Advisory Board made a decision to implement a technology fee.  This year’s $40 per family fee allows St. Timothy School to maintain the current level of available technology, which was updated in 2005 through the generous support of the Home & School Association.  Additionally, implementation of a technology fee creates a source of funding to cover maintenance issues as they arise on the current technology lab and also serves to create a source for funding future technology purchases.  We are asking that the technology fee be paid by Friday, August 31st.   Checks can be made out to St. Timothy Technology Fund.

Our annual Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  Our annual Middle School Curriculum Night will also be held tonight from 5:45-6:50 p.m. in the library.  Please try to attend tonight and speak to your son/daughter’s teachers.

Student picture day is Tuesday, September 11th.  Students can dress in regular appropriate clothing that day.  The class picture is Wednesday, September 26th and all students will wear their regular school clothes.

Please note that further newsletters will be placed on our website.  I will send out emails throughout the year reminding you that the monthly newsletters are posted.

Here is a preview of the upcoming events for August and September:

August 29:        First School Mass 9:00 a.m.

29:       Middle School Curriculum Night from 5:45-6:50 p.m. in the

                        library.

29:       Open House at 7:00 p.m. in the gym

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (614) 451-0739 or gmoshold@cdeducation.org.  I look forward to another great year and will work to ensure that St. Timothy continues to be a great school.  Our goal is to not only have great students, but even better people.  May God be with us every step of our journey.

God Bless,

The last day of school is Tuesday, December 20th.  This is a regular school day and NOT an early dismissal day.

October 1, 2011

Dear Parents,

Well, the year has started and we are well on our way. The weather is still enjoyable but in due time, it will get colder. Please try to make sure that your children have the appropriate clothing as the weather changes day by day.
Please be aware that we do NOT have school on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th. All of our teachers are attending the Ohio Catholic Education Association (OCEA) convention those two days.
The Columbus Department of Health will be offering flu vaccinations for any St. Timothy student on Thursday, October 6th from 12:00-1:00 p.m. If you are interested in having your son/daughter receive a vaccination, a registration form has to be signed and completed for each child. All registration forms need to be received by the school office by Wednesday, October 5th.
Terra Nova testing for Grades 3-8 will be conducted the week of October 17-21. If at all possible, please refrain from scheduling any appointments during this week so that make-up tests do not have to be given. Also, please try to make sure that your children are well-rested and fed before coming to school.
Student and class picture days have already come and gone.  Please know that individual student picture re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9th.
Students who have their picture re-taken can wear regular clothes to school for the picture but must bring in their regular school day uniform to change into afterward.
I want to again encourage everyone to sign-up with our SCRIP program. Scrip is a program in which parents can purchase gift cards to numerous places that they already shop including restaurants, grocery stores and more.   In this program for every dollar spent, a percentage is donated to St. Timothy Home and School and toward your son/daughter’s tuition bill. So the more you purchase in the SCRIP program, the more money that goes directly toward your family’s tuition. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Carolyn Weber, Home and School Scrip Coordinator, at cwubs4@yahoo.com. Since you purchase many of these items already, this program provides an easy way to support our school and reduce the tuition bill your family faces.
St. Timothy School is recycling used printer cartridges, paper and aluminum cans. Any used printer cartridges can be brought in and placed in the bin located next to the pop machines. Any paper and aluminum cans may be placed in the recycling bins located at the entrance of the St. Timothy parking lot.
The school is placing notes in the bulletin so the parish community can be kept abreast of accomplishments and events within the school community. If you have anything that you would like to be placed in the bulletin, please e-mail or give it to me by Tuesday in order for it to be in the weekend’s bulletin.
Our custodial staff is doing a great job and has continued to make St. Timothy School shine. In order to ensure the safety of our school community while keeping the school clean, classrooms will be locked after 5:00 p.m. If you need to get back into a classroom to retrieve any items, please make sure to do it by 5:00 p.m.

Please find below a list of upcoming St. Timothy events:
October         3-4:        NO SCHOOL- OCEA Convention
5:        School Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the teacher’s lounge
6:        Flu Vaccinations available from 12:00-1:00 with completed
                                    registration form
10:      Home and School Meeting in the library at 7:30 p.m.
17-21:       Terra Nova Testing for Grades 3-8
28:       End of First Grading Quarter
31:       Halloween Parties at 1:45 p.m.

Please remember that if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to having another great year and watch St. Timothy students progress everyday. May God Bless us and watch closely over our journey.

Sincerely,

George Mosholder

August 26, 2011

Dear St. Timothy Parents,

On behalf of St. Timothy School’s faculty and staff, we would like to welcome our parents and students back to school.  We hope that everyone had a safe and joyous summer and is ready for a great school year.  While we have no doubt that the 2011-12 School Year will bring growth and achievement for this great school, I just wanted to address some changes that have taken place for this upcoming school year.

I am proud to announce that we have one new addition to our 2011-12 staff.  Mrs. Mandy Williams is our new second grade teacher.  Please introduce yourself to Mrs. Williams when you get a chance to do so.

We are asking that the technology fee be paid by Friday, September 2nd.   Checks can be made out to St. Timothy Technology Fund.

We are proud to announce that we have some new technology in St. Timothy School for the 2011-2012 school year.  We have purchased four new smartboards in our classrooms so every classroom (K-8) now has a smartboard.  We also have all new computers in our computer lab and library and 12 new microscopes in the middle school.  Finally, we purchased a new server for our system.  We are extremely excited about this new technology and we know the students will benefit greatly from it.

Our annual Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 31st at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  Our annual Middle School Curriculum Night will also be held that night from 5:45-6:50 p.m. in the library.  Please try to attend this night and speak to your son/daughter’s teachers.

Student picture day is Tuesday, September 13th.  Students can dress in regular appropriate clothing that day.  The class picture is Wednesday, September 28th and all students will wear their regular school clothes.

Please note that further newsletters will be placed on our website.  I will send out emails throughout the year reminding you that the monthly newsletters are posted.

Here is a preview of the upcoming events for August and September:

August 31:        First School Mass 9:00 a.m.

31:       Middle School Curriculum Night from 5:45-6:50 p.m. in the

God Bless,

Well, the end is almost here. I just wanted to do one last newsletter to inform parents of some last pieces of information before summer begins.
Please keep in mind that there will be no school on Monday, May 30th (Memorial Day). Students must pack their lunches all next week because the cafeteria will be closed.

As for the 2011-2012 school year, I am pleased to announce that there will not be a lot of change in our faculty and staff. As I previously announced, we hired Mandy Williams to be our second grade teacher next year. This, baring any unforeseen change, will be the only change on staff next year.
We will have one change in the fifth and sixth grade as Mrs. Watson will teach 5th grade Religion, Math, Social Studies, Language Arts and 6th Grade Religion, while Mrs. Polanco will teach 5th grade Science and Mrs. Rinehart will teach 5th grade Health. I wanted to get the 5th grade students more acclimated to some of the middle school teachers they will face in the upcoming years, so we decided to make this change.

As for next year’s calendar, here is a simple version:

November 1, 2010

Dear Parents:

We are officially one quarter of the way through the 2010-11 school year, and the weather has taken a turn for the cooler.  The holiday season will be here soon enough, but before we begin to look ahead, let’s first take a look at the upcoming month of November.  (Please note that October 31st was the last day students can wear shorts until April 1st).

Report cards (Grades K-5) will be sent home with the students on Friday, November 5th,   while middle school report cards will be mailed home that same day. Please remember that we will NOT have school on Friday, November 12th due to our Staff Development Day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 11th from 1:30-7:30 p.m.  (That day is an early dismissal day for the students at 1:00 p.m.)  Parents can sign-up for the conferences outside the church after all Masses on November 6-7th and outside the school office beginning Monday, November 8th through Wednesday, November 10th.

Please note again that Thursday, November 11th will be an early
dismissal day.  Lunch will NOT be served that day so all students
will need to bring their lunch.  Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.
Students who ride the Columbus buses will be supervised in the
cafeteria until 2:30 p.m.  At that time, those buses will take home the
students as usual.  Homework club on that day will still run until 4:00 p.m.

We will also have a dress-down day on Thursday, November 11th in honor of the Penn State-Ohio State football game (We do NOT have school on Friday, November 12th).  Students can either bring in $1 or a dress-down pass and can wear the colors of the team they are rooting for.

Picture re-take day will be held on Wednesday, November 10th.   Just a reminder that Thanksgiving break this year begins Wednesday, November 24 and runs through Sunday, November 28th.

Here is a look at what the month of November brings:

October 1, 2010

Dear Parents,

Well, the year has started and we are well on our way.  The weather is still enjoyable but in due time, it will get colder.  Please try to make sure that your children have the appropriate clothing as the weather changes day by day.

Student and class picture days have already come and gone.   Please know that individual student picture re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 10th.  Students who have their picture re-taken can wear regular clothes to school for the picture but must bring in their regular school day uniform to change into.

The school is placing weekly notes in the bulletin so the parish community can be kept abreast of accomplishments and events within the school community.  If you have anything that you would like to be placed in the bulletin, please e-mail or give it to me by Tuesday in order for it to be in the weekend’s bulletin.

Terra Nova testing for Grades 3-8 will be conducted the week of October 18-22.  If at all possible, please refrain from scheduling any appointments during this week so that make-up tests do not have to be given.  Also, please try to make sure that your children are well-rested and fed before coming to school.

I am pleased to announce that St. Timothy School has been selected as a recipient of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities.    St. Timothy School is one of only a few select schools in the state of Ohio to be recognized.  Also, Sue Gardiner and Ashley Mayer are two of only approximately two hundred teachers in the state of Ohio to be recognized for this award.  Congratulations St. Timothy, Mrs. Gardiner and Ms. Mayer!

Please find below a list of upcoming St. Timothy events:

October           11:       Home and School Meeting in the library at 7:30 p.m.

12:       School Board Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the teacher’s lounge

18-22:       Terra Nova Testing for Grades 3-8

29:       End of First Grading Quarter

29:       Halloween Parties at 1:45 p.m.

Please remember that if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to having another great year and watch St. Timothy students progress everyday.  May God Bless us and watch closely over our journey.

Sincerely,

George Mosholder

August 4, 2010

Dear St. Timothy Parents,

On behalf of St. Timothy’s faculty and staff, we would like to welcome our parents and students back to school.  We hope that everyone had a safe and joyous summer and is ready for a great school year.  While we have no doubt that the 2010-11 School Year will bring growth and achievement for this great school, I just wanted to address some changes that have taken place for this upcoming school year.

I am proud to announce that we have one new addition to our 2010-11 staff.  Mr. Nelson Flinders is our new head Custodian.  Please reintroduce yourself to Mr. Flinders when you get a chance to do so.

St. Timothy School is hosting our fourth annual Patty Grady Memorial Dinner on Saturday, August 14th from 4-8:00 p.m. in the gym.  This will be a spaghetti dinner with all of the proceeds applied towards our tuition assistance fund.  Cost is $7 per plate and take-outs will be available.  Please consider supporting this great cause and seeing many members of the St. Timothy community.

In the back-to-school packet, you will find a technology fee statement.  Four years ago, St. We are asking that the technology fee be paid by Friday, September 3rd.   Checks can be made out to St. Timothy Technology Fund.

Please note that further newsletters will be placed on our website and not in the courier packs.  I will send out emails throughout the year reminding you that the monthly newsletters are posted.

Columbus Public bus assignments should be mailed out soon, if they have not already been.  If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or requests, I ask that you contact Columbus Public Transportation directly.  Their website has a direct link where parents can voice any concerns:

http://www.columbus.k12.oh.us/applications/transweb.nsf/Templates/Mission?opendocument

The first day of school for grades K-8 is Wednesday, August 25th.  Please remember that the school day officially begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.  Students can be dropped off at 7:30 a.m. if they choose to do so.   Some classes might have activities for the students who are dropped off early, but the majority of these students will report directly to the library.  The first day is an early dismissal where the students are dismissed at 1:00 p.m.  If you drive your son/daughter to school, please make arrangements to pick them up at 1:00 p.m.  The cafeteria will be closed on the first day of school but will be open the rest of the week.

Our Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  Our annual Middle School Curriculum Night will also be held on Wednesday, September 1st from 5:45-6:50 p.m. in the library.  Please try to attend this night and speak to your son/daughter’s teachers.

Back-to-school packets can be picked up after the Masses on August 7-8th.  If you cannot pick-up the packets then, please stop by the office and pick it up at a later date.   Please make sure to read the student handbook to acquaint yourself with the various policies that are outlined.

April 29, 2010

Dear Parents,

May is almost here and let the warm weather stay for a long while. (well, I will bet that when many of you read this, it will probably be raining!)  Anyway, there are approximately five weeks of school left, and the students I assume are beginning to get excited.  Before we jump ahead of ourselves, there are many events that will occur between now and the end of the school year.

St. Timothy’s annual book fair will take place the week of May 3rd in the school library.  Books can purchased all week.  The book fair will also be open after the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Masses this Sunday for parents who want to survey the books or parish members who want to shop.  Thank you to all of the people that make this event such a huge success.

The St. Timothy Annual May Crowning Mass will take place on Wednesday, May 5th at 9:00 a.m.  All students are also asked to bring flowers for May Crowning.  On the morning of May 5, students in grades K - 5 can drop off flowers in the Grade 2 classroom.  Students in grades 6 - 8 can drop off flowers in the 8th grade room

The first grade play will also take place on Wednesday, May 5th at 1:30 p.m. in the gym.

Please keep in mind that there will be no school on Monday, May 31st (Memorial Day).  Students must pack their lunches the last week of school because the cafeteria will be closed.

The closing of the school Mass will take place on Thursday, June 3rd at 9:00 a.m.  The traditional Candle Passing Ceremony from the 8th to the 7th Grade will occur at this time.  The Second Semester Academic Recognition Assembly will take place immediately after Mass in the church.

The last day of school for the students is Friday, June 4th.  This will be an early dismissal day at 1:00 p.m.  We have our annual clap-out at 12:55 p.m. on that Friday, where the faculty, staff and students line the hallways and the 8th graders make one last trip through the school halls.  All parents are invited to form a tunnel outside where the 8th graders exit.  Please be here by 12:55 p.m. if you want to participate in this event.

The Eighth Grade Graduation Mass will take place on Friday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m.

October 30, 2009

Dear Parents:

We are officially one quarter of the way through the 2009-10 school year, and the weather will begin to take a turn for the cooler.  The holiday season will be here soon enough, but before we begin to look ahead, let’s first take a look at the upcoming November month.  (Please note that October 30th is the last day students can wear shorts until April 1st).

Report cards (Grades K-5) will be sent home with the students on Thursday, November 5th,   while middle school report cards will be mailed home that same day. Please remember that we will NOT have school on Friday, November 6th due to our Staff Development Day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 12th from 1:30-7:30 p.m.  (That day is an early dismissal day for the students at 1:00 p.m.)  Parents can sign-up for the conferences outside the school office beginning Monday, November 9th through Wednesday, November 11th.  If you need to meet with a teacher for a period of time longer than ten minutes, please contact that teacher directly to schedule an appointment.

Please note again that Thursday, November 12th will be an early dismissal day.
Lunch will NOT be served that day so all students will need to bring their
lunch.  Students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.  Students who ride the
Columbus buses will be supervised in the cafeteria until 2:30 p.m.  At
that time, those buses will take home the students as usual.  Homework club
on that day will still run until 4:00 p.m.

We will also have a dress-down day on Thursday, November 5th in honor of the Penn State-Ohio State football game (We do NOT have school on Friday, November 6th).  Students can either bring in $1 or a dress-down pass and can wear the colors of the team they are rooting for.  We will also have a dress-down day on Friday, November 20st in honor of the big game (Penn State-Michigan State) and the little game (Ohio State-Michigan).  Again, students can either bring in a $1 or a dress-down pass.

Picture re-take day will be held on Wednesday, November 11th.   Just a reminder that Thanksgiving break this year begins Wednesday, November 25 and runs through Sunday, November 29th.

Here is a look at what the month of November brings:

November:       3:         Election Day

                        5:         Dress-down day for Penn State-Ohio State

6:         NO SCHOOL- STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY

                        11:       Veterans Day

                        11:       School Picture Re-take Day

                        12:       Early Dismissal 1:00 p.m.

                                    Parent-Teacher Conferences from 1:30-7:30 p.m.

                        19:       Market Day

October 1, 2009

Dear Parents,

Well, the year has started and we are well on our way.  The weather is still enjoyable but in due time, it will get colder.  Please try to make sure that your children have the appropriate clothing as the weather changes day by day.

Class Picture Day has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 14th.  Your sons and daughters will wear their regular school uniforms that day (as they always do for Wednesday classes).  Please know that individual student picture re-take day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th.

I just want to again encourage everyone to sign-up with our SCRIP program.  Scrip is a program in which parents can purchase gift cards to numerous places that they already shop including restaurants, grocery stores and more.   In this program for every dollar spent, a percentage is donated to St. Timothy Home and School and toward your son/daughter’s tuition bill.  So the more you purchase in the SCRIP program, the more money will go directly towards your family’s tuition.  If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Mary Di’Orio, Home and School President, at mary@dioriohome.com.

Any paper and aluminum cans can be placed in the recycling bins located at the entrance of the St. Timothy parking lot.

The school is placing weekly notes in the bulletin so the parish community can be kept abreast of accomplishments and events within the school community.  If you have anything that you would like to be placed in the bulletin, please e-mail or give it to me by Tuesday in order for it to be in the weekend’s bulletin.

Please remember that St. Timothy will NOT have school on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th.  On those days, our teachers will attend the Ohio Catholic Education Association (OCEA) convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Terra Nova testing for Grades 3-8 will be conducted the week of October 19-23.  If at all possible, please refrain from scheduling any appointments during this week so that make-up tests do not have to be given.  Also, please try to make sure that your children are well-rested and fed before coming to school.

I am pleased to announce that St. Timothy School has been selected as a recipient of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Youth Science Opportunities.    St. Timothy School is one of only a few select schools in the state of Ohio to be recognized.  Also, Sue Gardiner is one of only approximately two hundred teachers in the state of Ohio recognized for this award.  Congratulations St. Timothy and Mrs. Gardiner!

Please find below a list of upcoming St. Timothy events:

October

8-9:  NO SCHOOL: OCEA Convention

Sincerely,

George Mosholder

August 4, 2009

Dear St. Timothy Parents,

On behalf of St. Timothy’s faculty and staff, we would like to welcome our parents and students back to school.  We hope that everyone had a safe and joyous summer and is ready for a great school year.  While we have no doubt that the 2009-10 School Year will bring growth and achievement for this great school, I just wanted to address some changes that have taken place for this upcoming school year.

I am proud to announce that we have one new addition to our 2009-10 staff.  Mrs. Ann Polanco is our new Spanish Teacher.  Mrs. Polanco previously taught Spanish here at St. Timothy and is extremely excited to be back.  Please reintroduce yourself to Mrs. Polanco when you get a chance to do so.

St. Timothy School is hosting our third Patty Grady Memorial Dinner on Saturday, August 22nd from 6-9:00 p.m. in the gym.  This will be a spaghetti dinner with all of the proceeds applied towards our tuition assistance fund.  Cost is $7 per plate and take-outs will be available.  Please consider supporting this great cause and seeing many members of the St. Timothy community.

In the August 27th courier pack, you will find a technology fee statement.  Three years ago, St. We are asking that the technology fee be paid by Friday, September 4th.

The first day of school for grades K-8 is Monday, August 24th.  Please remember that the school day officially begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.  Students can come to an activity period everyday beginning at 7:30 a.m. if they choose to do so.   The first day is an early dismissal where the students are dismissed at 1:00 p.m.  If you drive your son/daughter to school, please make arrangements to pick them up at 1:00 p.m.  The cafeteria will be closed on the first day of school but will be open the rest of the week.

Our Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  Please try to attend this meeting and speak to your son/daughter’s teachers.

Back-to-school packets can be picked up after the Masses on August 8-9th.  If you cannot pick-up the packets then, please stop by the office and pick it up at a later date.   Please make sure to read the student handbook to acquaint yourself with the various policies that are outlined.
